Science is a cumulative course, everything builds on one another and eventually, all topics can be linked. Chemistry is an important component in the chain, I'm motivated to learn chemistry to not only do well in chemistry, but to retain knowledge applicable to future sciences. Also, both my parents, unfortuneately, have PhD's in chem so they both expect me to be crazy good. "IT'S GENETIC TRUST ME!" -- mom, which means don't fail at chem or you fail your parents. maha.

You have a very different motivation than I do! Mine is very extrinsic while you said how yours is intrinsic, because you strive to go into a field of science. I'm not sure if yours is actually intrinsic because it seems like you might just want to please your parents? :D I know the feeling. If you do like science, though, that's awesome!
Yo Jessica!I actually understand what your going through because this is part of asian culture! I do the same thing about getting grades mean everthing because I don't want my parents to get mad about my grades and such. Also going to college is like everything!
